Since I first saw one of Bumbleborn’s games, I was instantly hooked. I love his style of artwork, game designs, and how passionate he is about game development. Echo: The Oracle’s Scroll is his first complete game, which just released on Playdate this week to great support from the indie gaming community. It’s a non-violent Metroidvania focused on jumping puzzles and exploration. I’m eager to get myself a Playdate and start playing this ASAP! It’s out now on Playdate and you can get it on their page or directly from him on itch.io.

Tower of Dreams was one I stumbled upon the other day, and I’m a true sucker for Gameboy-styled games, but this is so much more than that. The simple mechanic of using your sword to jump, made famous by Hollow Knight and most recently seen in Pipsqueak, a title coming out next year, is your main mode of transportation.
You unlock many new ways to get around, like dashes, a boomerang, and more. Honestly, just watch the trailer—the music right from the start is an instant hit for me. Review coming next week!

Colorgrave is back with a teaser trailer for their new game, Claire a la Mode, coming soon. It’s a baking game where you can play solo or couch co-op. You bake desserts and collect bakers through high-stakes bake-offs. This game looks adorable and was not where I thought they would go next.
Their latest release, Veritus, was a top-down dungeon-crawling, Zelda-like game that I really loved. Though it had a much darker tone, I love that they can pivot to something as cute and cozy as Claire a la Mode. Colorgrave really is one of the best developers of indie Gameboy-styled games.

Crowdfunding Checkpoint
A few years ago, a close friend of mine was visiting Copenhagen, and we stopped into a tabletop game store where he was looking for the latest MÖRK BORG release. I honestly wasn’t familiar with any TTGs or that world at all, but the artwork and style of the game and its expansions caught my eye. So much so that this new Kickstarter for an official game was something I had to share with you all. It has the familiar art style and end of the world vibes.

Quest Vibes
One of this year's critically acclaimed indie games, Crow Country, has an eerie vibe and a retro Final Fantasy VII look. The soundtrack's intro, "You Came Back," hints at influence from FFVII as well, but the creepy synth styles will haunt you. It has dark tones and spooky vibes, perfect for Halloween!

Quest Loot
Indie darling Hyper Light Drifter is seeing a reissue of its fantastic soundtrack on Iam8bit. You can pre-order the multi-colored vinyl soon. Disasterpeace truly created a masterpiece with this soundtrack, which stands tall alongside the works of many film composers. A must-have for fans of the game.
