Panic held a fall update for the Playdate last night to showcase recently released games and upcoming titles, with insights from the developers. The little handheld, designed by Teenage Engineering, has been selling well, and a second season is confirmed for 2025. This season will release one game a week, regardless of when you purchase it.
One of the highlights is Owlet’s Embrace, an action-exploration platformer reminiscent of Grapple Dog with its fast-paced grappling hook mechanics.
It’s incredible to see so much creativity squeezed out of this tiny handheld, which has an aspect ratio of 400 x 240 and only 1-bit color depth.

This colorful little driving game, where you collect carts and build a caravan, feels like the ultimate version of Snake. I love the design and the chaos of growing the caravan to ridiculous lengths.

CMYK, the game design studio and publisher, has teamed up with Hollow Ponds for Wilmot’s Warehouse: The Boardgame. The adorable Wilmot made his way to the board game scene this year in a memory card game, where you work with your team to organize Wilmot’s warehouse. The game emphasizes unique gameplay and memory skills to remember stock locations.

Arkotype has outdone themself with the design of the Enhance Soundworks Collection for Lost In Cult. Their clean, minimalistic design style shines in this masterful production, with meticulous details across the vinyl, packaging, pins, and poster.
The soundtrack covers:
Rez Infinite | Tetris® Effect: Connected | Lumines Remastered | Humanity; a celebration of 10 years of Enhance and the masterful work of Tetsuya Mizuguchi.
It’s steep for the $250 price tag, but it looks like a must buy for collectors.

(Hey! Sey here, the guy who runs Good Game Lobby. I truly love Lost in Cult's design work, but I’m still waiting for my Sable and Eastward books that have faced repeated delays over the past year. I recently learned from a blog post—not even a direct email—that they're now delayed until January 2025. Order at your own risk. I’ll update when I receive them…hopefully in 2025.)

This week I posted the reviews for Bubble Frog DX and Wilmot Work’s It Out. Check them out here and each written review has the video review too!
I keep forgetting about the Playdate console. A bit too retro for me, but I dig the concept.
