Future Games Show - Gamescom 2024 Show
With the biggest gaming show of the year, Gamescom, we’re in for many treats, from new trailers and game reveals to release date updates for the most anticipated titles coming in late 2024, into 2025, and beyond.
The Future Games Show is always packed with trailers and release dates, with a strong focus on indie game titles. They did not disappoint during Gamescom, and I’ve curated a few of my favorites just for you!
The Explorator trailer starts with beautiful visuals and music that invite you into a magical-looking world. Just as you’re calmly taking in this world, everything descends into chaos. It’s a fast-paced FPS with a fresh graphic style and hand-crafted 2D animation. The Kickstarter just launched alongside the trailer, with a $20 USD entry to back the game, and a planned release date in July 2026.

A hauntingly beautiful first-person exploration game with a story-driven focus. Will: Follow the Light is set in a harsh, weathered environment that sets the tone for what’s to come.

Tormenture is about a cursed retro cartridge that harks back to Poltergeist with a possessed television in this horror-meets-retro game. You need to solve puzzles and escape ghosts so you don’t get trapped in the game. The demo is live now, and I’m looking forward to trying this one out!

Beautiful hand-crafted stop-motion animation takes center stage as you battle your way through armies of the undead. You won’t have to wait long, as The Spirit of the Samurai, inspired by Japanese mythology, is coming to PC in Fall 2024.

Step into the "Wholesome Hand-Drawn Puzzle Adventure," where stunning visuals bring a lively animated film to life! Follow Nico, a war veteran turned novelist, on a global train journey to Sunset Hills, where he seeks to reunite with old comrades. Along the way, solve puzzles amidst charming characters and cozy cities, uncovering Nico's past and enjoying a whimsical journey filled with humor, heart, and surprises!
I backed this one on Kickstarter, where it ended up being 191% funded! The game just released yesterday, and from my early beta preview, I can say it lives up to the promise of being a wholesome puzzle adventure.

You play as a truck making deliveries in a physics-based driving simulator. At first glance, it seems like a fun and goofy time, but as you venture deeper into the ancient forest, you realize there’s more waiting for you. To be honest, I was sold at 'you play as a truck’.
