Quest Vibes July: Feat. Amynedd, Sam Webster, Altin Gün, MEMODEMO and More
New playlist featuring music from Tunic, Grindstone, Jedi Survivor, and many more.
It’s a new month and that means we just posted our monthly newsletter Good Game Lobby Monthly you can read here. That also means we have a new playlist of my favorite gaming soundtracks and gaming-related music. This month I am going to touch on a few of the songs and artists featured on the playlist. If you are a musician and make songs for games please reach out to me about getting your music on the playlist.
Boot Sequence
To kick things off Memodemo has a ton of these “Boot Sequence” tracks they have produced that give the playlist a feeling you had when turning on your PS1, Dreamcast, or OG Xbox. When you press play it will feel like you have entered a new vibe ready to take you to the games first level.
16-Bit Wizard: Amynedd
Amynedd is one artist that completely surprised me. He made one of the best SEGA Genesis inspired albums I have ever heard back in 2020 and then nothing else. As if this album is just stuck in time itself a time capsule of video game music. With the level of detail in the songs and over production you would think that this is his fulltime work, but you would be dead wrong because Amynedd is actually the travel youtuber Geowizard
The inspiration for the album was actually music he was using for a series of videos on his Youtube channel called The Mission Across Wales. You can hear the music in the background of the video.

Turkish Delight
Altin Gün, which means "Golden Day," is a Turkish/Dutch psych-folk band taking over the world. One new world they had the pleasure of exploring is Star Wars. They were asked to create a few songs for the soundtrack of Jedi: Survivor, but these were not just songs made for the game—they were for a specific part of the game.
When you arrive on planet Koboh’s Rambler’s Reach outpost, you are introduced to the Pyloon Saloon. Here, you meet the staff and some characters around the saloon, as well as the star of the show: the jukebox, or as they call it, DD-EC. This is where you can select tunes from around the galaxy that you unlock as you progress through the game.
This is where we are introduced to Altin Gün, or their Star Wars persona, Altin Lazer Blaster. This bonus soundtrack, Sounds from the Galactic Skylanes, features three original songs by the band. You can experience their psych-folk-inspired song "Rumble Droid" on this month's playlist. This jam is out of this world. (I’m sorry.)
Skate Story featuring Blood Cultures
When the trailer for Skate Story dropped in 2022, just about everyone on the internet’s jaw dropped from the killer visuals. For me, it was also the song featured in the trailer. You are a demon made of glass and pain, skating your way through The Emptylands, jamming to New York band Blood Cultures. “Set it on Fire,” featured in the trailer, is available on this month's playlist, and believe me, you will be hooked. Skate Story was initially planned for a 2023 release, but we are now looking at a release sometime this year.
